ChITY SHOTS are one man’s eye view of the world, as it exists on the streets of downtown Portland, OR. I could have called this site simply ‘City SHots,’ but there was too much else flying through the air to not choose to spell ChITY this way.

The observations I make while driving look real one moment, yet in another they’ve totally changed; just like the traffic lights move from green to yellow to red. I drive with one eye on the road and the other eye on what Portlanders do. Often I wonder if what I see is unique to Porland or does this funny stuff go on everywhere? I laugh with people, not at them, and when I see something that strikes me as notably funny, I make a mental note. Later, when time permits I sit at this keyboard and try to recapture the picture as I could have with a camera’s eye.

There is no agenda with these writing; just little bits of otherwise unrecorded history. Maybe a cartoonist will visit the site and suggest that drawings of these writings could become a syndicated cartoon. Until I get that call, I’ll simply look with one eye and write with two.

Nothing I do in my ‘real’ world suggests that I should be spending time with these stories. I live a different life as an attorney and advisor whose practice is filled with entrepreneurs with bodacious ideas and who want to build the world’s next great company. Some people have said nice things about me; for which I am grateful. I wonder what they’ll say when they discover this blog?
